USS LEXINGTON Former Crew Member
Name: Park, David A.
Email: [email protected]
Service Dates: May 1970 to December 1971
Rank/Duty Assigned: Signalman Seaman E3
After doing my KP duty, I got real lucky and met up with some of the Signal Crew. I was originally supposed to be a Fireman Mate but took my Seaman’s test and passed with flying colors.
I met up with Signalman coming from Enlisted Club one night and was able to transfer after passing Seaman’s Test with Andys and Johns and another who’s name escapes me as I write this. Some names I recall are: Andy (FLA), Bill Antillia (PA), John Hudack (PA), Mo (KT), Frank Abate (NY), I wish I could recall more. Hey Guys! Do you guys remember Joey Fred Dokes? Always wondered what became of former Signal crew. Wish I could recall some of the Quarter Mates and Radio Men we shared bridge with. Fondest memory: Steering the ship and being on bridge crew. Always woke up when planes stopped flying for the night as we berthed right under #2 & 3 cables on FD.
Wanted to stay onboard but always wanted to travel as well as that’s why I joined the US Navy. I grew up in housing projects so never through in my life I would ever get a chance to travel any where in the world! Went to college afterward and ended up with an IT career for almost 40 years so far. Hope to retire soon. See ya hope all is good and well with all of you.
