I am submitting on behalf of our grandfather Juan Pablo Maestas who served on the USS Lexington. As a crew member during this period Juan Pablo Maestas was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, facsimile and ribbon bar with bronze star. I have the orginal citation from the Chief of Naval Personnel which states this award was was given for extraordinary heroism displayed by her crew in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Pacific War Area from 18 September 1943 to 15 August 1945. Lawrence’s son, Emilio Maestas, will inherit this citation and pass it down through the Maestas family. – Lawrence Maestas (granddaughters Melissa and Belinda Maestas, great-grandson Emilio Maestas, great-granddaughter Francesca Maestas.
