Submitted by son, Tim Holcomb. Dayton joined the Navy in 1959, was honorably discharged in 1964. Served aboard Lexington from 1960-63 in Engine Room #3 as a Fireman. He was in Japan, Philippines, Thailand, and Hong Kong and while on a WestPac cruise sailed around the Horn. Participated in the blockade of Cuba and generally had a great time at every port the ship hailed.
