Was a crew member on the LEX homeported in Pensacola Fl. Worked under Chief PO Padgett. Did my share of scraping rust and applying haze grey paint. Got smart and got assigned to Officer’s Country and waxed and stripped decks all day. At least we were out of the cold. Got caught using the Officers commode. Got re-assigned back to scraping rust. Oh well. Lots of good times on that ship.
