Louis Deering was my father. He passed away 10/14/04 of a massive stroke. He was 82.  He was survived by his wife, Catherine, who passed away 5/11/09. They were married 6/12/43.

He completed the Naval School of Photography in Pensacola, FL 10/28/42 and was assigned to the Lexington in November 1942, shortly after its launch. He served there until he contracted

rheumatic fever in November 1944 and was sent to the hospital at the Naval Air Station in San Pedro, CA to recover.

He was then assigned to the USS Norton Sound, a seaplane tender, in January 1945 and served there as the head of the photo lab through the remainder of the war.
