Was onboard from February, 1989 until she was decommissioned. Have Been Attached to USS Wasp LHD-1, USS Tarawa LHA-1, and the Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71 but LEX was my first and favorite ship. We were a family onboard, and the day of the crash (Oct 29 1989) solidified that feeling for everyone.
