Mr. Adsmond was my late father-in-law. He was a surviving USS Lexington (CV-2) member of the crew from the Battle of the Coral Sea. As was customary (for survivors of sinkings) in the USN, he was transferred to the Atlantic Fleet. He went on to serve in Operation Overlord, the D-Day landings, in June 1944.
