USS LEXINGTON Former Crew Member

Service Dates: March 1956 - December 1957
Rank/Duty Assigned: Metalsmith 3rd class Ships company, assigned to the Medal/welding shop off the hangar deck. GQ station- fog/foam station.
Life aboard the Lex and two far east cruises was a real adventure for this midwest farm boy. Often wondered what happened to some of the shop crew. Ron Amour, M. Prencipe, C. Miller and the Mitchell brothers and many others. Would enjoy talking to them. Never a dull moment on board. Some memories of the funny pranks that were pulled gave the shop something to talk about. Typhoon Edna was a bit hairy at times, but was thankful I wasn’t on those DDs who were escorting us. When pulling into ports,- don’t forget your liberty card and be back aboard by midnight or face some extra duty the next day.
