When I arrived in Pensacola the Lex was out to sea they told me to meet them on the flight line the next morning and they would take me out to her. Early the next morning I boarded the COD flight sitting backwards, the COD flight was a twin engine prop plane. Excited and terrified we took off for the the Lex after about a 20 or 30 min flight we touched down on board (controlled crash)! I tell you what if you have never done a trap on board an aircraft carrier at sea then you are missing one of the truly terrifying, exciting, and fun things in life!

When I was on board they had I div. berthing directly below the arresting gear! That is another story all in itself
