Comment: Lawrence L. Stewart, LCDR, USN (ret) died on 21 June 2010. I am his sister. I was very proud when my brother was navigator on the Lexington. I once watched in awe as he brought her into port in Florida. After retiring from the Navy in 1985 Larry worked in the private sector as an engineer. He retired back to College Station, TX where he was elected to the City Council in 2008. He was on safari in South Africa when he became ill and died suddenly. Maybe there are some old shipmates out there who would like to know this.
