Comment: I WOULD LIKE TO FIND S3 DIVISION 1968 TO 1971 SHIPMATES

I was on the Lexington from Jan. 4th to Aug. 9th, 1971. The years I spent on the Lexington I was the Ships’ Cobbler.  I was school trained at Fr. Lee, Vir. Army Quartermaster School because the Navy at that time had no school or training so I was sent to Fr. Lee..  After school I returned to the USS Lex., which was classified at that time CVS 16.  After returning from school my job was to repair all types of shoes, boots, leather straps, harnesses, just to mention a  few of the many items that was asked of me to work with at that time.  I spent my last three years working in the cobbler shop ending in ’71 of Aug..  Next to the cobbler shop was the Ships’ tailor shop, which was run by a friend.  His name was John Daddo. (sp)  Other friends I had at that time were Dennis Grant and Dick French, both in the same department which was Ships Servicemen Department, which was S-3 Division.  After leaving the Navy, I worked many years for AT&T, from which I retired.  I later went back to work as Asst. Mang. for building materials in the lumber department in Connecticut.  I eventually fully retired in 1998.  The last ten years I’ve lived in Florida.  Some day I do hope to go back and visit the Lexington.
